REVIEW:

BAND FACEBOOK PAGE

Sleep soundly, worry not of foreboding thoughts. The Nightmare Stage began as a group of talented musicians with many years experience plying their respective crafts. They entered this musical partnership knowing one thing; that they’re goal was to create the darkest, heaviest and most dynamic product that they could. What they created in a span of 2 years was something that even they could not have dreamed. Epic, sweeping keyboards courtesy of Marc Muchnik (Mourning Hour, Immortally Committed) combine with a stellar union between classic and modern riffing provided by Craig Bessemer (Mourning Hour, Immortally Committed). Opting for a hearty mixture of doom, thrash and NWOBHM, Bessemer leaves no stone unturned in the metal pantheon. These are then complemented so highly by the multifaceted vocal attack of Mr. Scott Oliva (Live After Death,Oceans Of Night, Windwraith). The wall of sound created by skinsman Mike Festa (Immortally Committed, Coded,Magus Beast) forms a monstrous backdrop to the proceedings.

Elements of doom, thrash and classic heavy metal…….. Keyboards are used not for typical progressive noodling, but to accentuate vocals and riffs. There’s plenty of melody here for those who crave it, while “true” metal fans will be satisfied with the dark undercurrent that fuels these songs

thanx for supporting The Nightmare Stage

  1. this is a great melodic metal cd,mixing many different styles into one ,great vocals and musicianship all around !

  2. The Nightmare Stage…what can i say….this is one of the greatest concept albums ive heard in a long time….these musicians have many years of experience and when combined they sweep you off your feet…once you take the journey, you will never go back..

  3. I was really impressed by this CD. Very tight and excellent vocals. Highly recommedned…

  4. The Nightmare Stage is one of the most compelling, and intricate bands to hail from the northeastern part of the U.S. in the last twenty years. With a little luck ( not that they need it ) they should be picked up by a major label before the summers end.

  5. Well thought out, great production… Music reminds me of Queensryche, Iron Maiden, Fates Warning, and Dream Theater…Very well done excellent CD

  6. Now here is a talented group of musicians that has finally earned the right to sit amongst other Metal greats!
The Nightmare Stage conveys originality and perfection.

  7. Being in radio for 20 years I’ve reviewed thousands of CDs. Most don’t make it past the 2nd track.. Not only have I listened to every track and actually enjoyed it. It now in my car in my personal CD collection.

  8. Really outstanding work, very impressive – it’s what a lot of the music scene has been missing through the past few years, thank you for this.

  9. Killer tracks from 1st to last! Nice artwork & packaging.Top of the line musicians who could hold thier own against any of the big names in the music business. If you’re a fan of Metal, then you’ll be a fan of The Nightmare Stage.

  10. WOW! This album is amazing. From beginning to end it tells a story. The vocals and lyrics cut through like a knife, the guitar riffs and leads are so powerful and memorable and the keyboards weave in, out and around them perfectly! And completely holding everything down is the drums and how the beats change up and match perfectly with each part of every song!

  11. Very Impressive, May even bring me back to my “Metal Roots”. Will spread the word. I wish you all the best!!

  12. As a proud supporter of the Long Island original metal music scene and a member of it myself, it is FAN-fuckin’-TASTIC to see these uber-talented friends of mine create a project that can and should be easily playing huge festivals in other parts of the world that know quality original METAL when they hear it! I’m talking Europe in particular. Progressive/goth/horror/death/transient metal? All that and more. The Nightmare Stage delivers on all levels that haven’t even been defined yet. The world needs to hear this! I’m off to Looney Tunes to pick up the cd the “old-fashioned way” \m/ \m/ IN METAL ~Johnny WC~

  14. WOW great album. Reminds a bit like Merciful, meets Man-O-War, meets Iced Earth . You boys know where your roots lie…….beats all the bull shit music out there. Thanks

  15. This is an incredible album(cd) from start to finish. Those of us that are older metal fans, we enjoyed artists with incredible vocal range (Maiden, Priest, Fates Warning, Queensryche etc..) and Oliva delivers a stellar performance. Much can be said for the rest of the band too. The incorporation of keyboards on this cd emphasizes the dark theatric mood of the music. This cd is old school metal with a new school twist, so I strongly recommend you buy this because its going to be the best new metal you have heard in a very very long time!

  16. wow I am a believer I have officially converted to the dark side. I am tossing out all my fity-cent cd’s as I type this with one hand. Seriously guys great job on a thoroughly enjoyable album. I cant wait to get them in the mail and hear it in its entirety. Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  17. GREAT CD FROM START TO FINISH!!!!MUSIC AND VOCALS ARE EXCELLENT!METAL IS ALIVE!!!
CANT WAIT TO SEE THE NIGHTMARE STAGE-LIVE!!!!!

  18. MD ALBUM REVIEW – THE NIGHTMARE STAGE – “FREE ADMISSION FOR THE DAMNED”Share
Today at 21:34 | Edit note | Delete

The album opens with a quite dark and sinister intro (faded part one), it greets you as a welcome. Its very melodic with some atmospheric keyboards, guitar and smooth almost Michael Kiske type vocal work… Instantly, im drawn in and anticipating the barrage of songs to come…

    …Hang on…

This sounds like a well established metal album… does this really need The Metal Detector to write a review or is Mike just gloating on the fact that this band is set for big times?

Track two shines like a highly polished power metal tune, high screaming vocals, tight bass and guitar, powerful keyboards and a great, pounding drum track holding it all together. The mix and production is outstanding and the bands timing is second to none with time changes and breaks to rival big bands like Maiden, Helloween and Priest, these guys know exactly what they are doing and they are doing it well.

I’m not going to take you track for track through this Metal journey, i want to so much, but, it will be like a movie spoiler, yeah, you want to know but you want to experience it on a first hand degree and work it out for yourself as well.
Be you a Helloween, Avantasia, Primal Fear, Judas Priest, or Iron Maiden fan to name a few, you need to dive head first into this collection of awesome tracks, im not saying this because Mike is a facebook friend, im saying this because, as i live and breathe for metal, this should not be missed by any Metal fan!
MD RATING 9/10 and i hope these guys continue in producing such great material.
