Dear Looney Tunes Friends,
I hope this finds you well, stretching expectantly at the lip of a dawning summer, ra ra, shish koom ba, etc., etc. It finds me taking the G train to rehearsal and reflecting on my falling in love with Prince, a tiny rescue chihuahua we’re fostering through an antibiotic cycle while he conquers kennel cough and gets well enough to go live with his real family. It’ll be hard to let him leave.
BUT! There’s business at hand. I wanted to apologize for the delay in getting you your Record Store Day 45′s for “Luxembourg” and “Part Of The Whole” via Academy Fight Song Records. The manufacturing has taken WAY longer then we anticipated. We expect to have the 45′s to Looney Tunes around the first week of July.
Again, we are super sorry for the delay and have not forgotten about you. As always, I’m appreciative of your support and interest and grateful to those of you who ordered the record and came out to the show.
Finally, I’ll be quiet this summer (mostly), but I’ll have a new record coming in September, so look for more info on another possible Looney Tunes event close to the release date.

RECAP FROM THE INSTORE!
Last night the Wood Brothers stopped by Looney Tunes to help us celebrate the release of their new album “Smoke String Halo”. The album is one of the best releases of 2011 and a Looney Tunes staff favorite. Everyone was excited about the event, but we had no idea just how good it was going to be. For most instore events the bands usually play about 20-30 minutes. We knew we were in for a treat when the sound guy said to us “How long do you want us to play for? How is an hour?” The band set up on the Looney stage and jammed for over an hour! The sounds that came off the stage were maybe the best we have ever had the pleasure to hear.
“I think that may have been one of the best in-store performances in our 40 year history” Karl Groeger Jr.
The guys played the whole new album and some fan favorite past tracks. After the set the band hung around to meet about 75 fans, take some pictures and sign some autographs.

ABOUT THE BROTHERS
Oliver and Chris Wood grew up in Boulder, Colorado. Sons of a Poet and a Microbiologist, they both took up music. Oliver moved to Atlanta and became a southerner. Chris moved to New York City and became a Yankee. Now, after years of musical and geographical separation they have reunited.
While in Atlanta, Oliver soaked up the roots of blues, the soul of the south, and found he had a talent for writing and singing songs. His band, King Johnson (named after Freddy King and Robert Johnson) toured mostly in the southern states. Meanwhile, Chris was living in Manhattan playing everything from free jazz to rock and roll. This is where he met his band mates to form Medeski Martin & Wood.
Now The Wood Brothers have begun a collaboration that combines their shared childhood influences with everything they’ve learned since leaving home. Their music has a rootsy feel that blends blues, folk, and rock music in a guitar/bass duo.

It’s Tuesday morning here in West Babylon. I had to take yesterday off after working Saturday and Sunday. I needed time to recoup from the busiest day in our 40 year history.
HOW WAS RECORD STORE DAY?
I got to the store at about 7:45am Saturday morning to find about 60 people lined up. I asked them when they got there. The first two people on line arrived at 4:00am to be the first on line. WOW That’s insane I said. They just laughed and said they NEEDED TO BE FIRST! The next few people said they lined up at 6:00am. As we were talking I noticed the line keep growing. Apparently there were about 30 more people in their cars and as soon as they saw me they ran on line. By the time we opened up the doors at 9:00am there were about 200 people already on line. WOW – it just got my juices flowing for what I was sure was going to be a killer day.
Our friends at Blackheart Record were on hand at 8:30 am to hand out free coffee to everyone on line, which was desperately needed.
When the doors opened at 9:00am it was like nothing I have ever seen in my retail history. It was an EXPLOSION. People were flying everywhere and grabbing everything. Most customers purchased 5 or more items. Our average sale for the day was over $70! By 1:00pm we were already ahead of last years sales and it never stopped.
When we closed the doors at 10:00pm we had seen the busiest day in our history.
We had over 850 customers Saturday and sales that were 81% higher then RSD 2010!
I could not have done this alone. I want to thank all the amazing bands that helped share this special day with us: Kevin Devine, Thursday, The Pretty Reckless, Alex Skolnick, Grace Read, Tiger Riot and Hotel of the Laughing Tree. The music was unbelievable all day long and we sold a ton of these artists CDs and LPs. The great people of Island Music Labs came down and donated their time the whole day to do sound and record everyone’s performance. I also want to thank Blackheart Records for the free coffee and our new friends The Brickhouse Brewery in Patchogue. The Brickhouse Brewery came down at 1:00pm with a keg of their home brew and sold beer for $2 a cup. Together we took 100% of the money and donated it to the American Red Cross Japan Relief fund. We were able to raise $285 for the Red Cross. We also raffled off a pair of tickets to the Broadway play RAIN – thank you to our friends at RAIN for this great promo.

TODD RUNDGREN BRINGS HEALING PSYCHEDELIA TO THE KESWICK THEATER, 9-14-10 PART TWO

Glenside PA – Picking up from where we left off with our last entry, we are in intermission of the Todd/Healing show at the Keswick Theater in Glenside PA. Whilst waiting for part two of the show, I manage to talk to some fans, as well as Doug Ford, Steve the usher who tells me that some of the more raucous songs are not only not for him, but at the back of the theater, sound like mud. THAT’S a shame. I am fortunate enough to make the acquaintance of Tim Luciano, who, through his brother Pete (‘Lucky’) is friends with and grew up with Rundgren’s brother Robin Rundgren, who is here at the show along with Rundgren’s mother Ruth. Mrs. Rundgren attends many of Rundgren’s east coast shows and is a heavy contributor to Rundgren biographer Billy James’ two editions of ‘A Dream Goes On Forever, The Continuing Story Of Todd Rundgren’.
As the second half nears, we see under the curtain the movement of feet, we hear Rundgren talking and errant notes here and there. The house lights die as album 2,Healing begins. From behind closed curtain we hear Rundgren vocally proclaim ‘My child…’
